Just a 5 minute drive from Maroni is the village of Zyggi, famous for its fish Tavernas sitting right on the beach.

En route to Zyggi is a very simple little garden taverna, on the beach under trees, serving a range of simple but fresh Cyprus food.

Maroni Beach has a Kantina serving great food at very good prices all day long...we love going there, having a swim early evening and, wrapped in a towel, sitting and having a fresh salad and something grilled with an ice cold beer as the stars come out and the moon silvers a path across the sea, a lovely way to end a day.

A 20 minute walk or 2 minute drive from Little Lodge is Limonokipos, freshly cooked fresh local produce and in the summer on Thursdays, 'Kleftico', Lamb and potatoes cooked in a clay oven, utterly delicious!

A 7 minutes drive away is Ladas a renowned fish Restaurant facing the sea.

The village of Tochni, 12 minutes drive, has a very simple Taverna, O Nostos, run by Irene, a London Cypriot, with a generous smile and warm welcome for everyone, serving local specialities and BBQ's.

Governor's Beach 15 minute drive, has a variety of Tavernas on the beach selling excellent food both at lunchtime and evenings and so very reasonably priced, our favourite being Kalymnos for a more diverse menu, charming staff and really delicious food but most especially because they have a deck bar at the edge of the cliff with shady, billowing white sails and lovely beach views, a serendipitous way to watch the sun go down with a glass of something deliciously cold and refreshing.

Psematismenos, the village before ours and a mere 2 minute drive has a kebab takeaway next to the church, which I'm told is very good. Lenia, a delightful, small Taverna, offering fresh delicious cooked local foods is worth a visit too.

Lefkara....a village famous for it handmade lace and silver ware and jewellery, abundant with great places to eat and sup delicious cold beers, wines and fresh fruit juices.

Maria Taverna in Vavatsinia...a lovely drive up into the hills.
A good road with views of plunging, verdant valleys and tree clad hills. Marias, friendly, family run, is one of our favourite Tavernas. Speedy, attentive service. The food is plentiful, honest, quality, fresh, seasonal and great value for money. Their Kleftico, lamb slow cooked in a stone fourno, is the best on the island. Added to all this is lovely views over pine scented trees.

As we are equidistant to the three major towns of the capital Nicosia, Limassol and Larnaca, a mere half hour drive to each, a trip to any one of them ensures you an evening meal or sightseeing trip worth making the effort for...the choices are varied and many.
